Early Life and Training
Caley Reece started her journey in martial arts by practicing something called Zen Do Kai. She trained for several years and reached the rank of brown belt. Before she became a professional Muay Thai fighter, she worked as a manager at a health clinic.
Her Kickboxing Career
Caley Reece had her very first fight when she was 25 years old. Even though she lost her first two fights, she didn't give up! After that, she went on a long winning streak.
Amateur Success
As an amateur, Caley won several important titles. She became the WMC Western Australia state champion and the Australian national featherweight champion. She also won the WKA Australian welterweight title.
Becoming a Professional Champion
In 2009, Caley decided to become a professional fighter. In her very first professional fight, she won the WPMF Women's World Featherweight Championship! This happened in her hometown of Perth on September 5, 2009. She beat Sindy Huyer by a unanimous decision, meaning all the judges agreed she won.
Later that year, in December 2009, she traveled to Bangkok, Thailand. There, she won another big title: the WMC Women's Intercontinental Featherweight Championship. She successfully defended this title in June 2010.
Representing Australia
Caley also went back to amateur fighting to represent Australia. She competed in the women's Muay Thai division at the 2010 World Combat Games in Beijing, China. She won a silver medal there, which is a huge achievement! She won against tough opponents before losing in the final to Valentina Shevchenko.
More World Titles
Caley continued to win more championships. In June 2011, she won the WMC Women's World Featherweight Championship. She then had several fights in Thailand, winning against strong fighters.
In April 2012, she made history by becoming the first woman to win two WMC titles in different weight divisions! She won the WMC Women's World Junior Lightweight Championship.
Retirement and Comeback
In October 2012, Caley defended her WMC featherweight title one last time before announcing her retirement. But her retirement didn't last long! Eight months later, in June 2013, she made a comeback and won her fight.
Lion Fight Championship
Caley Reece became a four-time world champion in February 2014. She won the Lion Fight Women's Featherweight Championship in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. She beat Tiffany van Soest, a very strong fighter, in a close match. Caley's smart use of clinching and sweeps helped her win. This was Tiffany van Soest's first professional defeat!
