The Calystegia soldanella is a type of morning glory plant. It is also known by many names like seashore false bindweed or beach morning glory. This plant is a perennial vine, meaning it lives for more than two years.

You can find this plant growing in beach sand and other coastal areas. It grows in temperate regions all over the world. People sometimes call it 'The Prince's Flower'. This name comes from Prince Charles Edward Stuart. He planted it on the Island of Eriskay in Scotland in 1745. He did this when he arrived to lead a historical event called the Jacobite rising.

The plant has stems that feel a bit fleshy. Its leaves are shaped like kidneys. It also has beautiful morning glory flowers. These flowers have delicate pink to bright lavender petals. Insects help to pollinate these flowers.

In North America, you can find Calystegia soldanella along the west coast. It also grows in certain parts of the east coast.

In the United Kingdom, this plant is common on the sandy coasts of England and Wales. It is less common in Scotland and Northern Ireland. You can also find it widely around the coast of Ireland.
