Cam Sims was born on January 6, 1996, in Monroe, Louisiana. He went to Ouachita Parish High School in Louisiana. There, he played football as a tight end, a position that blocks and catches passes.
Many people thought Cam was a very talented player. He decided to play college football for the University of Alabama. He played there from 2014 to 2017. In his first two years, he didn't play much. But in his junior and senior years, he became a more important player for the team.

Professional Football Career
Cam Sims was not chosen by any team in the 2018 NFL draft. This means he was an undrafted free agent. However, he still got a chance to play in the NFL. He signed with the Washington Redskins on May 2, 2018.
Playing for Washington

In his first game in 2018, Cam Sims unfortunately hurt his ankle. This injury meant he couldn't play for the rest of that season.
Over the next few years, Cam moved between the team's main roster and the practice squad. The practice squad is where players train with the team but don't play in games unless they are called up. He was promoted to the active roster several times in 2019 and 2020.

In 2020, Cam Sims scored his first touchdown in a game against the New York Giants. Later that season, he had his best game yet, catching passes for 110 yards against the Giants. He also had a strong game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. By the end of 2020, he had caught 32 passes for 477 yards.
Cam Sims also played in his first playoff game in 2020. He was the team's best receiver in that game, catching seven passes for 104 yards. In 2021, he scored two more touchdowns, one against the Carolina Panthers and another against the Dallas Cowboys. He continued to play for the Washington team, which later changed its name to the Washington Commanders.
