The Story of Cambria
Cambria started as a community in the early 1900s. Two brothers, Tom and Evan John, helped create it. They owned a coal company and opened a mine nearby around 1904.
How Cambria Got Its Name
The community was first called Lauder. But the John brothers were from Wales, so they changed the name to Cambria. This is an old Latin name for Wales. A post office opened in 1905, first called Reeves, but its name also changed to Cambria in 1911.

Cambria is located in southern Illinois. Its exact spot is at 37.783054 degrees North and 89.118533 degrees West.
