A Look Back: Camino Nuevo's History
Puerto Rico became a territory of the United States after the Spanish–American War. This happened because of an agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898.
In 1899, the United States government counted the people living in Puerto Rico. This count, called a census, found that 1,435 people lived in Camino Nuevo barrio at that time. The population has changed over the years, as you can see in the table below.
