Campbell Hill is a village in Jackson County, Illinois, United States. The population was 309 at the 2020 census.

Geography

Campbell Hill is located in northwestern Jackson County at 37°55′44″N 89°33′1″W / 37.92889°N 89.55028°W / 37.92889; -89.55028 (37.928964, -89.550350). Illinois Route 4 runs through the northeast side of the village, leading northwest 4.5 miles (7.2 km) to Willisville and southeast 4 miles (6 km) to Ava. Murphysboro, the Jackson county seat, is 19 miles (31 km) southeast of Campbell Hill.

According to the 2021 census gazetteer files, Campbell Hill has a total area of 0.46 square miles (1.19 km2), of which 0.46 square miles (1.19 km2) (or 99.78%) is land and 0.00 square miles (0.00 km2) (or 0.22%) is water.

There were 144 housing units at an average density of 311.02 per square mile (120.09/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 96.44% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 3.56% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.32% of the population.

There were 126 households, out of which 30.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.83% were married couples living together, 11.90% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.92% were non-families. 32.54% of all households were made up of individuals, and 13.49% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.89 and the average family size was 2.32.

The village's age distribution consisted of 24.3% under the age of 18, 8.6% from 18 to 24, 26.4% from 25 to 44, 19.5% from 45 to 64, and 21.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36.7 years. For every 100 females, there were 74.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 85.7 males.
