Campo Grande Atlético Clube, often called Campo Grande, is a Brazilian football team. It comes from the Campo Grande neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The club was started on June 13, 1940.

Club History

Early Years and First Division

Campo Grande Atlético Clube was founded on June 13, 1940. The team first played in Brazil's top football league, the Campeonato Brasileiro First Division, in 1979. They reached the second stage of the competition that year.

Winning a National Title

In 1982, Campo Grande won its biggest title so far. They won the Brazilian Second Division! They beat CSA in the final match. A player from Campo Grande, Luisinho, was the best goal scorer in the tournament with 10 goals. This win meant the club was promoted to the First Division for the next year.

Return to the Top League

Campo Grande played in the Campeonato Brasileiro First Division again in 1983. They were eliminated in the first stage but managed to qualify for the second stage.

Famous Players and Managers

In 1991, a very famous Brazilian player named Roberto Dinamite played for Campo Grande. He is known as one of the best goal scorers in Brazilian football history.

Later, in 1983, Vanderlei Luxemburgo started his career as a football manager by coaching Campo Grande. He went on to become a very well-known manager.
