Dadá Maravilha's Football Journey

Dadá started his football career in 1965. He played for a small club called Campo Grande in Rio. His amazing skills quickly got noticed by a scout from Atlético Mineiro, a much bigger team. He joined them in 1968.

Playing for Brazil

In 1969, Dadá was so popular that the Brazilian President at the time, Emílio Garrastazu Médici, even asked the coach, Mário Zagallo, to pick Dadá for the national team. This team was going to the 1970 World Cup in Mexico! Even though he didn't play much in the tournament, Brazil won the World Cup that year, making him a world champion! He played for Brazil 6 times between 1970 and 1973.

Club Successes

In 1971, Dadá helped Atlético Mineiro win their very first Brazilian Championship title. He scored the only goal in the final match, which was super important! After playing for Atlético, he moved to Flamengo in 1973.

He later played for Sport Club do Recife in 1974–75. There, he helped them win the state championship. In April 1976, he did something incredible: he scored 10 goals in one game! This was a record for Brazilian football in official matches. Even the legendary Pelé hadn't scored that many in a single official game.

Joining Internacional

In 1976, Dadá joined Internacional de Porto Alegre. This was a huge deal because it was one of the biggest player transfers in Brazil at the time. Some people thought he looked a bit clumsy or slow compared to other star players. But Dadá had a secret weapon: his amazing ability to be in the right place at the right time and score goals! This made him one of the best strikers in the club's history. He was the top scorer in the 1976 Brazilian Championship, scoring 16 goals. He even scored the first goal in the final match, which Internacional won 2–0.

Later Career and Famous Sayings

After Internacional, Dadá played for many different teams until 1986, when he finished his career. Throughout his time playing, fans loved him, and he earned many cool nicknames. People called him "Dario Peito-de-aço" (Iron Chest Dario) because he was so strong. He was also known as "Rei Dadá" (King Dadá) and "Dadá Beija-Flor" (Dadá the Hummingbird). The "Hummingbird" nickname came from his incredible jumping ability, which made it look like he could float in the air!

Dadá was also famous for his funny and memorable quotes. Before games, reporters loved to hear what he would say about the goals he was going to score. He even made up many famous sayings that Brazilian football fans still use today. One of his most famous quotes is: "There's no such thing as an ugly goal, what's ugly is not scoring!"
