History of Campton
Campton got its name because it was once a camp town. A small creek called Swift Creek runs through it. This creek is named after Jonathan Swift. Legend says Swift buried treasure nearby, but it has never been found!

Campton hosts an annual event called the Swift Silver Mine Festival. This festival takes place every year on Labor Day weekend. It includes a parade and many vendors in the downtown area.
Famous People from Campton
- Edgar Tolson was a folk artist. His unique figures impressed many, including Ralph Rinzler from the Smithsonian Institution. His art was shown at the 1971 Festival of American Folklife.

- Tyler Booth is a country music singer. He grew up on a farm near Campton. Tyler started playing guitar and writing songs at a young age. He signed a major record deal with Sony Music Nashville in 2020. His talent was discovered while he was in college at Morehead State University.
