Debra Frances "Camryn" Manheim (born March 8, 1961) is a talented American actress. She became well-known after her special one-woman show called "Wake Up, I'm Fat" in 1994.
You might know her from her roles in popular TV shows like The Practice, where she played Ellenor Frutt. She was also Delia Banks in Ghost Whisperer and "Control" in Person of Interest. More recently, she played Lieutenant Cosgrove on Stumptown and Kate Dixon on Law & Order.
Camryn Manheim has also been in many movies. Some of her films include Romy and Michele's High School Reunion, Happiness, and Scary Movie 3. She has won important awards for her acting, including a Golden Globe Award and a Primetime Emmy Award.

Early Life and Education
Camryn Manheim was born in West Caldwell, New Jersey. Her family is Jewish. Her mother, Sylvia, was a teacher, and her father, Jerome, was a math professor. Because of her father's jobs, her family moved several times when she was young. She lived in Michigan and Illinois.
When Camryn was in sixth grade, her family moved to Southern California. They settled in Long Beach. She went to Woodrow Wilson Classical High School there. She became interested in acting after working at a Renaissance faire during high school. Camryn studied acting in college. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 1984. Later, she earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts in 1987. Her brother, Karl Manheim, is a law professor.
Acting Career Highlights

Before becoming a famous actress, Camryn Manheim worked as a sign language interpreter in hospitals. She used her sign language skills in some of her acting roles. For example, she used it on The Practice and in the movie Mercury Rising. Her very first movie appearance was a small role in Sudden Impact in 1983.
A big moment in her career was her one-woman show, "Wake Up, I'm Fat." It was performed in 1994. She later turned this show into a book with the same title. In 1999, Camryn Manheim won an Emmy Award for her work on the TV show The Practice. That same year, she also received the Lucy Award from Women in Film. This award celebrates women who have made a positive impact on the entertainment industry.
Personal Life
Camryn Manheim has a son named Milo Manheim. He was born on March 6, 2001. Milo has also become an actor, following in his mother's footsteps.
Camryn Manheim is also involved in charity work. She supports Bet Tzedek Legal Services, a group in Los Angeles that helps people with legal issues. She has helped organize their annual fundraiser, the Justice Ball.
