Capon Springs Run is a small, clear stream in Hampshire County, West Virginia. It's about 4.8-mile-long (7.7 km), which is like walking almost 5 miles! This stream is a "tributary," meaning it flows into a bigger river called the Cacapon River.

Capon Springs Run is a shallow stream with many stones. You can't use boats on it because it's not deep enough. The stream gets its water from the famous "Capon Springs." These springs are located on the side of Great North Mountain.

Where Does Capon Springs Run Start?

The stream begins on the eastern side of Great North Mountain. It starts near a small village called Capon Springs. From there, it flows west.

What's Along the Run?

As Capon Springs Run flows, it passes through the Capon Springs Resort. It runs alongside Capon Springs Road, which is also known as West Virginia Secondary Route 16. The stream also flows along a place called Middle Ridge. It then meets another small stream called Himmelwright Run.

To the south, the stream is bordered by the George Washington National Forest. This is a large area of protected land.

Where Does it End?

Capon Springs Run meets another stream called Dry Run at a spot known as Capon Springs Station. Long ago, there was an old railroad track here from the Winchester and Western Railroad. A bridge and a train station used to stand at this spot.

Finally, Capon Springs Run flows into the Cacapon River. This happens near the old Capon Lake Whipple Truss Bridge in Capon Lake.

Capon Springs Run is very important for local farms. Parts of the stream are used to water farm animals. The entire stream and the wet areas around it are also a home for many different kinds of wild animals.
