Caressa Venal Cameron-Jackson was born on August 4, 1987. She is an American singer and a winner of beauty pageants. Caressa is from Fredericksburg, Virginia. She was crowned Miss Virginia in 2009 and then became Miss America 2010.
Caressa was the eighth African American woman to win the Miss America title. She was also the first Black Miss Virginia to become Miss America.

Early Life and School
Caressa grew up in Virginia. She went to Massaponax High School. Later, she studied at Virginia Commonwealth University. In 2002, Caressa also finished her training at the Barbizon Modeling and Acting School in Virginia.
Beauty Pageant Journey
Caressa competed in several beauty pageants before winning the big titles.
Before Winning Miss Virginia
In 2005, Caressa was the second runner-up in the Miss Virginia Teen USA pageant. The winner that year was Tori Hall.
The next year, in 2006, she was again second runner-up. This time it was at the Miss Virginia USA pageant. Amber Copley won that competition.
Caressa also competed in the Miss Virginia pageant. She placed second runner-up in both 2006 and 2007. In 2008, she was the first runner-up. Because of this, she got to compete in the National Sweetheart 2008 pageant. There, she finished as the fourth runner-up.
Becoming Miss Virginia 2009
Caressa kept trying for the Miss Virginia title. On June 28, 2009, on her fourth try, she finally won. She was crowned Miss Virginia.
Becoming Miss America 2010
After winning Miss Virginia, Caressa went on to compete for Miss America. On January 27, 2010, she won a $2,000 scholarship. This was for winning the preliminary talent competition with her singing.
Just a few days later, on January 30, 2010, Caressa won the Miss America 2010 pageant. The event took place at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Her Year as Miss America
As Miss America, Caressa traveled a lot. She went over 250,000 miles during her year of service. She spoke to more than 80,000 students across the country. Her main message was about making healthy choices. She also talked about her personal cause, "Real Talk: AIDS in America."
For her hard work, Caressa received the President’s Volunteer Service Award. She also got a Congressional Honor. She performed at important events, like the Presidential Inauguration festivities in 2009. She also performed at the White House Christmas Tree lighting in 2010.
Personal Life
Caressa married her high school boyfriend, Nathaniel Jackson Jr. Their wedding was on December 2, 2012. Caressa wore a beautiful Sareh Nouri wedding dress.
