Carey is a small village located in Wyandot County, Ohio, in the United States. In 2020, about 3,565 people lived there. The village's motto is "Rock Solid Since 1858!"

History of Carey
The land near Carey has been home to people for a very long time. Around 11,000 BC, people lived in a place called Sheriden Cave, which is close to the village.
The village of Carey was officially started in 1843. Two men, William M. Buell and R. M. Shuler, owned the land and decided to create a town there. They named the town after Judge John Carey, who was an important person in the area during those early days.
Geography of Carey
Carey is a small place in terms of size. The United States Census Bureau says the village covers about 1.99 square miles (5.15 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, about 1.98 square miles (5.13 square kilometers). Only a tiny part, about 0.01 square miles (0.02 square kilometers), is water.

In 2010, there were 3,674 people living in Carey. These people lived in 1,521 homes, and 983 of those homes were families.
Most of the people in Carey were White (96.2%). A small number were Asian (1.6%), and others were from different backgrounds. About 2.0% of the population identified as Hispanic or Latino.

The average age of people in the village was 37.1 years old. About 26.4% of residents were under 18. About 13% were 65 years old or older. The population was almost evenly split between males (49.3%) and females (50.7%).
Education in Carey
Students in Carey attend schools that are part of the Carey Exempted Village School District. The district has one elementary school for younger students and one high school for older students. There is also a Catholic school called Our Lady of Consolation. Students who go to public high school attend Carey High School.
Carey also has a public library where people can borrow books and other materials. It's called the Dorcas Carey Public Library.
