Carina de Rooij-Versloot, born on May 10, 1980, is a famous Dutch wheelchair basketball player. She is a key member of the Netherlands women's national wheelchair basketball team. Carina has competed in many Paralympic Games, winning two bronze medals and two gold medals for her country.

About Carina de Rooij
Early Life and Injury
Carina de Rooij was born in Zaltbommel, Netherlands. In 1999, when she was 19 years old, Carina broke her back. This happened during gymnastics training at the Hellas gymnastics club in Tiel.
As a result of this accident, she developed incomplete paraplegia. This means she has some weakness or loss of movement in her lower body.
Discovering Wheelchair Basketball
While recovering at a rehabilitation center in Utrecht, Carina found wheelchair basketball. This sport quickly became a big part of her life. It allowed her to stay active and compete.
Paralympic Achievements
Carina has represented the Netherlands at several Paralympic Games. These are major international sports events for athletes with disabilities.
- She first competed at the 2004 Summer Paralympics and then the 2008 Summer Paralympics.
- At the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London, she won her first bronze medal.
