Carine Roitfeld (born 19 September 1954) is a famous French fashion editor, stylist, and writer. She used to be the editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris, a very important fashion magazine. She held this job from 2001 to 2011. In 2012, she started her own magazine called CR Fashion Book. This magazine comes out twice a year and is based in New York City.

Early Life and Family
Carine Roitfeld was born in Paris, France. Her father, Jacques Roitfeld, was from a place called Belgorod-Dnestrovsky. He studied law and later moved to Paris. Carine described her mother as a "classic Frenchwoman." She looked up to her father, even though he was often busy.
Her Fashion Career
Starting as a Model
When Carine was 18, she began modeling. Someone saw her on a street in Paris and asked her to try it. She says she wasn't a big star, but she worked for magazines for younger people.
Becoming a Stylist and Editor
After modeling, Carine became a writer and then a stylist for French Elle magazine. A stylist helps choose clothes and accessories for photo shoots. While working as a freelance stylist, her daughter Julia was in a children's fashion shoot. This was for Italian Vogue Bambini in 1990. The famous photographer Mario Testino took the pictures.
Carine and Mario Testino soon started working together a lot. They created advertisements and photo shoots for American and French Vogue.
Working with Big Brands
Carine also worked as a consultant for famous fashion designers. She helped Tom Ford at Gucci and Yves Saint-Laurent for six years. She also helped create images for brands like Missoni, Versace, and Calvin Klein.
Leading Vogue Paris
In 2001, Carine was asked to become the editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris. This is a very important job in the fashion world. She was in charge of the magazine for ten years.
She was recognized for her style. In 2010, Tatler magazine put her on their list of the top 10 best-dressed people. In 2013, The Guardian newspaper listed her as one of the fifty best-dressed people over 50.
New Projects and Magazines
Carine left Vogue Paris in January 2011 to work on her own projects. Emmanuelle Alt, who was her fashion director, took over her role at Vogue Paris.
After leaving Vogue, Carine continued to work as a freelance stylist. She worked on campaigns for Chanel. She also helped design window displays for Barneys New York. In 2011, she put together a large book called Irreverent.
In 2012, she joined Harper's Bazaar as their global fashion director. This meant she helped guide fashion for the magazine all over the world.
A documentary film called Mademoiselle C was made in 2013. It showed Carine Roitfeld as she launched her own magazine, CR Fashion Book. Through her hard work, Carine Roitfeld became very successful in the fashion industry.
Personal Life
Carine Roitfeld has been with her partner, Christian Restoin, since the late 1970s. They are not married. Christian Restoin created a clothing line called Equipment, which he closed in 2001.
Carine and Christian have two children. Their daughter, Julia Restoin Roitfeld, was born in November 1980. Their son, Vladimir Restoin Roitfeld, was born in December 1984. Both children were born in Paris.
Julia graduated from Parsons School of Design in New York City in 2006. She later became the face of Tom Ford's perfume, Black Orchid. Vladimir graduated from the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts in 2007.
