Carine Roitfeld (born 19 September 1954) is a French fashion editor, a former fashion model, and a writer. She is well-known for her work in the fashion world. From 2001 to 2011, she was the editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris, a very important fashion magazine. In 2012, she started her own magazine called CR Fashion Book, which comes out twice a year.

Early Life and Family
Carine Roitfeld was born in Paris, France. Her father, Jacques Roitfeld, was from a place called Belgorod-Dnestrovsky. He studied law and later moved to Paris. Carine described her mother as a "classic Frenchwoman." She looked up to her father, calling him "an idol."
Carine Roitfeld's Fashion Career
How She Started in Fashion
When Carine was 18, she began modeling after someone saw her on a street in Paris. She says she wasn't a big star, but she did work for magazines aimed at younger people. Later, she became a writer and then a stylist for the French magazine Elle.
Working with Mario Testino
While working as a freelance stylist, her daughter Julia had a photoshoot for Italian Vogue Bambini in 1990. The famous photographer Mario Testino took the pictures. Carine felt that meeting Mario Testino changed her career. They soon started working together as a team. They created advertisements and did photoshoots for American and French Vogue.
Becoming a Fashion Consultant
Carine also worked as a consultant for famous fashion brands like Gucci and Yves Saint-Laurent for six years. She also helped create images for other big names like Missoni, Versace, and Calvin Klein.
Leading Vogue Paris
In 2001, Condé Nast asked Carine to become the editor of Vogue Paris. This was a very important job in the fashion world. She was also recognized for her style. In 2010, Tatler magazine named her one of the top 10 best-dressed people. In 2013, The Guardian listed her as one of the fifty best-dressed people over 50.
Leaving Vogue and New Projects
On 17 December 2010, Carine decided to leave Vogue Paris after ten years. She wanted to work on her own projects. She left the magazine at the end of January 2011. Her role at Vogue Paris was taken over by Emmanuelle Alt, who had been her fashion director.
After leaving Vogue, Carine went back to freelance styling. She worked on campaigns for Chanel and helped design a window display for Barneys New York. She also put together a large book called Irreverent in 2011.
In 2012, she joined Harper's Bazaar as their global fashion director. A documentary film called Mademoiselle C was made in 2013. It showed Carine launching her own magazine, CR Fashion Book.
Personal Life
Carine Roitfeld has been with her partner, Christian Restoin, since the late 1970s. They are not married. Christian used to have his own clothing line called Equipment, but he closed it in 2001.
Carine and Christian have two children. Their daughter, Julia Restoin Roitfeld, was born in November 1980. Their son, Vladimir Restoin Roitfeld, was born in December 1984. Both children were born in Paris.
Julia studied at Parsons School of Design in New York City. Vladimir graduated from the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts.
