Madeleine's Acting Career
How Madeleine Started Acting
Madeleine Humphries was discovered in 1999 when she was just 11 years old. Johnny Manahan, who was the director of the ABS-CBN Talent Center (now called Star Magic), saw her perform at her school. He invited her to join acting workshops and try out to become one of their artists.
For two years, Madeleine attended many workshops. She learned about acting, singing, and how to present herself. In May 2003, she was officially accepted and became a member of Star Circle Batch 11.
After joining Star Circle, Madeleine started getting small guest roles in different shows on the ABS-CBN network. Her first regular guest role was in late 2003. She played a fashion model named "Paris" in the TV show Berks. In the show, her character became the girlfriend of Ketchup, a funny character played by Ketchup Eusebio. This was the first time Madeleine was paired with a comedian.
In 2004, Madeleine appeared in her first movie, My First Romance. She played a friend of the main character, who was played by Heart Evangelista. That same year, she also got her first role in a primetime TV series called Sarah, the Teen Princess. She played "Penelope," a character who was a romantic rival to the main character, played by Sarah Geronimo.
In 2005, Madeleine joined ABS-CBN's reality show Qpids. This show paired up actors to see who viewers liked best. Madeleine and her partner, Janus del Prado, were chosen as the "Voter's Choice" because they received the most votes from viewers. During Qpids, she was first called "Carla Humphries-Loren," but she continued to be known as "Carla Humphries."
In 2006, Madeleine and Janus del Prado starred in an episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya, a popular drama show. Madeleine's acting in this episode received great reviews from critics.
That same year, Madeleine played "Rita Arguelles" in the TV drama Bituing Walang Ningning. This show starred Sarah Geronimo and Angelika dela Cruz. While the series was airing, one of her shampoo commercials also started showing in the Philippines.
Madeleine also appeared in two well-liked Star Cinema movies in 2006: D' Lucky Ones and First Day High.
She was also one of the four main characters in the youth TV series Star Magic Presents: Abt Ur Luv, which started in November 2006. This show introduced her new pairing with Victor Basa. Abt Ur Luv won "Best Youth Oriented Program" in 2007 and ran for 57 episodes.

Madeleine also has a Jewelry Design Certificate from the Gemology Institute of America (GIA). She completed a nine-week class at the GIA in Bangkok, Thailand.
Madeleine's Hobbies and Interests
Madeleine enjoys both music and art. At one point, she thought about working in a museum or an art gallery. She has been painting since she was eight years old.
