Carlos Eduardo Cintra da Costa Pereira (born April 23, 1940 – died December 13, 2020), known as Cadoca, was a Brazilian politician and lawyer. He spent many years working to serve the people of his home state, Pernambuco, and later the entire country.

Cadoca's Journey in Politics

Cadoca started his career as a lawyer. He studied law at the Faculdade de Direito do Recife, which is part of the Federal University of Pernambuco. He finished his studies in 1967.

Serving His City

After becoming a lawyer, Cadoca decided to enter politics. From 1983 to 1995, he worked as a City councilor in Recife. A city councilor helps make important decisions for the city. They work on local laws and projects that affect everyone living there.

Working for His State

In 1994, Cadoca was chosen to be a member of the Legislative Assembly of Pernambuco. This assembly is like a parliament for the state. Its job is to create and approve laws that are specific to the state of Pernambuco. He served one term, from 1995 to 1999.

Helping His Country

Cadoca then moved on to national politics. In 1998, he was elected to the Chamber of Deputies. This is a very important part of the Brazilian government, similar to a national parliament. Members of the Chamber of Deputies create and vote on laws that affect all of Brazil. Cadoca represented his home state of Pernambuco.

He was re-elected four more times, serving a total of five terms:

  • His first term was from 1999 to 2003.
  • He was re-elected in 2002 and served from 2003 to 2007.
  • Again, he was re-elected in 2006, serving from 2007 to 2011.
  • In 2010, he won another election, serving from 2011 to 2015.
  • His final term began in 2015 and ended in 2019.

Cadoca spent many years working as a national lawmaker, helping to shape the future of Brazil.
