Carlos Lacámara's Early Life
Carlos Lacámara was born in Havana, Cuba in 1958. When he was very young, his family moved to Washington, D.C. in 1960. This move happened because of the Cuban Revolution. After that, his family moved to Puerto Rico. Later, they settled in California, where he lives today. Carlos went to college at the UCLA.
Carlos Lacámara's Acting and Writing Career
Carlos Lacámara has had a long career in television. When he first started acting, he often played roles like waiters or valets. Over time, his roles became more varied and important.
He worked on the TV show Nurses. His character, Paco Ortíz, was a main part of the show. Later, he reunited with his Nurses co-star Ada Maris on the show The Brothers García. On that show, he played Ray García, the father of the family.
Besides acting, Carlos is also a successful playwright. A playwright is someone who writes plays for the stage. In 2006, one of his plays, Nowhere on the Border, won a big award. It was produced by a theater company in New York. His second play, Havana Bourgeois, also won a contest. It was performed in New York, Los Angeles, and Florida.
Carlos also helped create a musical called "Cuba Libre". He wrote the story and some of the song lyrics. This musical first opened in Oregon in 2015. It features a famous band called Tiempo Libre. The show includes many actors, dancers, and musicians.
