Carlos Robles Piquer (born October 13, 1925 – died February 8, 2018) was an important Spanish diplomat and politician. He held many different jobs in the Spanish government and also worked in Europe. He was known for his long career in public service.

Carlos Robles Piquer began his political career in 1962. His first big role was as the director general of information. This job involved managing how the government shared news with the public.

Early Government Roles

After his first role, Robles Piquer became the director general of popular culture and entertainment. He helped oversee cultural activities and public events. Later, from 1975 to 1976, he served as the Minister of Education. In this important role, he was in charge of Spain's schools and universities.

Working in Foreign Affairs and Media

Next, Robles Piquer became the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs. This meant he helped manage Spain's relationships with other countries. After that, he worked as the Director General of RTVE. RTVE is Spain's public radio and television company.

Serving in Parliament

Carlos Robles Piquer was later elected to the Congress of Deputies. This is one of the main parts of Spain's national parliament. He represented the city of Madrid. In 1987, he left the national parliament. He then became a member of the European Parliament. He represented Spain in Europe until 1999.

Carlos Robles Piquer was married to Elisa Fraga Iribarne. Her brother was Manuel Fraga Iribarne, another well-known Spanish politician. Carlos and Elisa had a son named José María Robles Fraga. He also became a politician, following in his father's footsteps.
