Carlos Verona's Cycling Journey
Carlos Verona was born in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, a town near Madrid, Spain. He started his professional cycling career in 2011. Over the years, he has ridden for several different teams.
In July 2016, Carlos joined the Orica–BikeExchange team. He stayed with them for the rest of 2016 and through the 2017 and 2018 seasons. Later, in July 2019, he was chosen to compete in the famous Tour de France.
First Big Win
Carlos achieved his first major win as a professional cyclist in 2022. This happened during the 2022 Critérium du Dauphiné race. On the seventh stage, he was part of a large group of riders who broke away from the main pack. Carlos then attacked from this group and rode ahead to win the stage all by himself. He was the only rider to finish ahead of the race leader, Primož Roglič, on that day.
In 2025, Carlos won another big stage. He took first place in Stage 15 of the 2025 Giro d'Italia, which is one of the most important cycling races in the world.
