Carlton is a small town located in Kewaunee County, Wisconsin, in the United States. In 2010, about 1,014 people lived here. It is believed that the town was named after James Carlton, who was one of the first settlers in the area.

Communities in Carlton
Carlton is home to a few smaller communities. These are places within the town that have their own names and history.
- Black Earth was once a Native American village. It was a home for the Potawatomi people until 1862.
- Norman is a small, unincorporated community. This means it's a recognized place but doesn't have its own local government. You can find it where County Road G and Norman Road meet.
- Tisch Mills is another unincorporated community. It sits right on the border between Kewaunee County and Manitowoc County. It's located at the intersection of County Road B/Tisch Mills Road and County Road BB.

Energy and Industry
The Kewaunee Nuclear Generating Station was located in Carlton. This was a large power plant that produced electricity using nuclear energy. It started operating in 1974 but was officially closed down in 2013.
Geography and Nature
Carlton is in the southeastern part of Kewaunee County. To its south is Manitowoc County, and to its east is the large Lake Michigan. The town covers an area of about 92.2 square kilometers (about 35.6 square miles), and all of it is land.
An interesting natural feature nearby is the Wisconsin Shipwreck Coast National Marine Sanctuary. The northernmost part of this special area is in the waters of Lake Michigan right off the coast of Carlton. This sanctuary helps protect old shipwrecks found underwater.
People of Carlton
Carlton has been home to several notable individuals who made a difference in their fields.
- Anton Holly was a Wisconsin state representative. He owned a farm in the town.
- Simon Kahquados was an important leader and activist for the Potawatomi people.
