Carmelita Viridiana Correa Silva (born December 5, 1988) is a talented athlete from Mexico. She is famous for competing in the pole vault, an exciting track and field event. In pole vault, athletes use a long, flexible pole to jump over a high bar. Carmelita holds the Mexican record in this sport. Her best jump was an amazing 4.18 meters! She also won a gold medal at the Central American and Caribbean Championships in 2013.

Carmelita Correa: Pole Vault Star

Carmelita was born in Tonalá, Chiapas, Mexico. She started showing her athletic skills early on. Her first international medal came when she was a junior athlete. She finished second at the 2006 Central American and Caribbean Junior Championships. This was a great start to her career.

Early Career and Records

After her junior success, Carmelita continued to improve. In 2007, she placed eighth at the Pan American Junior Athletics Championships. When she started competing as a senior athlete in 2008, she quickly set a new personal best. She jumped 3.95 meters that year. She also placed fourth at the NACAC Under-23 Championships in Toluca, Mexico.

A big moment for Carmelita came when she set a new Mexican record. She cleared 4.18 meters at the Olimpiada Nacional. This jump showed how much she had grown as an athlete.

Senior International Competitions

Carmelita made her first appearance in a major senior international event in 2011. She competed at the Central American and Caribbean Championships. She finished fifth there. Later that year, she also took part in the Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico. She placed tenth in that competition.
