Carmen Sandiego's ThinkQuick Challenge is an exciting computer game. It's like a game show where you learn! This game is part of the popular Carmen Sandiego series. The Learning Company released it on June 1, 1999. Up to four players can join the fun. The game uses something called the Mohawk engine to run.

Game Story

Carmen Sandiego and her six Master Thieves are up to no good! They have sent out special robots called KnowBots. These KnowBots are trying to steal all the world's information. They want to take data from books and other texts.

To stop them, the ACME Detective Agency needs your help. Their top agent, Chase Devineaux, is recruiting new agents. Your mission is to get back the stolen knowledge. Carmen Sandiego is waiting for a challenge. She wants to see if you can outsmart her!

The game doesn't have a final ending. After you catch Carmen's helpers, they just reappear. This means you can keep playing and solving mysteries again and again!

How to Play

The main goal of ThinkQuick Challenge is to get past Carmen's KnowBots. You need to answer questions correctly. This helps you capture Carmen's Master Thieves.

Starting a Mission

At the start of each mission, Agent Chase Devineaux tells you about the suspect. He also explains what important knowledge has been stolen. There are three difficulty levels. These levels are made for different age groups. Each level starts you with a certain amount of Energy Points.

Facing KnowBots

The KnowBots will try to stop you. They challenge you to rounds of questions. These rounds are like a game show. You will answer questions in many subjects. These include History, Geography, Math, English, Life Science, Physical Science, and Art and Music. There's also a "Crime Scene" section. This part is like a memory game.

If you answer a question correctly, you earn Knowledge Points. The points you get depend on the type of question. For example, "Multipick" questions give you 950 points. "Rapid Fire Sort" questions give 200 points each. If you answer incorrectly, you lose one Capture Energy point. These points are very important for catching the Master Thief.

Capturing the Thief

Once you reach a Master Thief's secret hideout, you must solve a special puzzle. Solving the puzzle lets you enter. After that, you can try to capture the thief!

Playing with Friends

Carmen Sandiego's ThinkQuick Challenge also lets you play with friends! You can play with up to four people. There are two ways to play together:

  • Cooperative Play: You and your friends work as a team. If one player answers a question correctly, everyone on the team gets the same points. You all work together to catch the thief!
  • Competitive Play: In this mode, you play against your friends. Each player tries to get the most points. The player with the most Capture Energy gets the chance to capture the thief. If there's a tie in Capture Energy, the player with the most Knowledge Points wins.

Create Your Own Questions

You can even create your own questions for the game! You can make up to 50 questions. You can use different question types like Multipick, YinYang (True/False), Sequencer, Matchmaker, and Gridlock (finding answers in a graph). This is great for making quizzes for yourself or your friends!

Learning Goals

ThinkQuick Challenge helps you test what you've learned. It checks your ability to remember information. You get points for correct answers, which makes learning fun!

Teachers can even use the custom content creator. They can put in their own questions for school quizzes. The game presents information in a quiz show style. It covers many subjects like math, language arts, science, history, geography, and music. You can play alone or with friends, making it a great way to learn together.
