Early Life and First Marriage
Caroline was born on 16 December 1774. Her parents were George Villiers, 4th Earl of Jersey and his wife, Frances.
On 5 July 1795, Caroline married Lord Paget in London. At that time, Lord Paget was a Member of Parliament (MP) for Carnarvon. His father was the Earl of Uxbridge.
Caroline's Children
Caroline and Lord Paget had eight children together. Their children were:
- Lady Caroline Paget (1796–1874), who married Charles Gordon-Lennox, 5th Duke of Richmond.
- Henry Paget, 2nd Marquess of Anglesey (1797–1869), who married Eleanora Campbell. She was the granddaughter of John Campbell, 5th Duke of Argyll.
- Lady Jane Paget (1798–1876), who married Francis Conyngham, 2nd Marquess Conyngham.
- Lady Georgina Paget (1800–1875), who married Edward Crofton, 2nd Baron Crofton.

- Lord Arthur Paget (1805–1825).
Divorce and Second Marriage
In 1810, Caroline and Lord Paget divorced. This happened before Lord Paget became a Marquess. The divorce was due to issues in their marriage. Lord Paget was involved with Lady Charlotte Wellesley. Her husband, Henry Wellesley, 1st Baron Cowley, was the brother of the famous Duke of Wellington.
Charlotte's brother, Henry Cadogan, had a disagreement with Lord Paget. This led to a challenge, but no one was hurt.
Caroline then went to the Scottish courts to get her divorce. The divorce was finalized in November 1810. Just three weeks later, she married the Duke of Argyll. Their wedding took place in Canongate, Edinburgh. This was the Duke's only marriage, and they did not have any children together.
Later Life and Legacy
The Duchess of Argyll passed away in Dumbarton, Scotland, when she was 60 years old. She was buried in Kensal Green Cemetery in London.
