Early Life and Beginnings
Caroline Costa was born in Moissac, France, on May 9, 1996. She grew up in a town called Castelsarrasin with her parents, Laurence and Joaquim, and her sister, Lucie. Caroline has a mix of backgrounds, including Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, and French heritage.
Joining Pop System
In 2007, when Caroline was just 11 years old, she became part of a six-member teen music group called Pop System. This group was created for a French children's TV show called Iapiap! on Canal J. A famous singer named M. Pokora helped guide the group. Pop System became very popular and released a song called "Laissez-nous dire," which reached number 12 on the French music charts. The group included Caroline, Marina, Sarah, Lisa, Nicolas, and Joris.
Appearing on La France a un incroyable talent
In 2008, Caroline appeared on the TV show 100% Mag. Later that year, she joined the reality TV competition La France a un incroyable talent (which means "France has incredible talent"). She impressed the judges with her powerful voice. For her first audition, she sang "Hurt" by Christina Aguilera and received a standing ovation. She then performed "My Heart Will Go On" by Céline Dion. In the final round, Caroline sang "I Will Always Love You" by Whitney Houston. She finished as the runner-up, coming in second place.
Starting a Solo Music Career
Caroline began her solo music journey in 2009. That year, she sang a duet with Spanish teen singer Abraham Mateo. They covered the song "Without You." She also appeared on TV many times. In September 2009, she helped with a charity album for a French organization called AIDES, working with well-known artists.
Her first solo song released in France was "Qui je suis" in December 2010. This song was part of an EP (a mini-album) that also included "Mon secret" and a cover of "Take a Bow."
In December 2011, Caroline released the song "Je t'ai menti" as a duet with Swedish artist Ulrik Munther. They also made a music video for the song. This song was a French version of Ulrik Munther's "Kill for Lies." It was a preview for her first full album, J'irai, which came out on March 5, 2012.
Becoming a TV Presenter
Caroline also became a TV presenter. She hosted a French children's television show called Kids 20 on the channel Télétoon +.
Starring in a Musical Show
Since 2012, Caroline has been part of a very popular French musical show called Robin des Bois (full title: Robin des Bois: Ne renoncez jamais). In the show, she plays the role of Bedelia, who is the sheriff's daughter. Her character falls in love with Adrien, who is Robin Hood's son. The cast of the musical includes Matt Pokora, Stephanie Bedard, Sacha Tran, Dume, Nyco Lilliu, and Marc Antoine.
The show performed many times in Paris and then toured other cities in France, Belgium, and Switzerland. It was a big success. In 2013, the cast even won an NRJ Music Award for being the best Francophone Duo/Group of the Year.
