About Caroline Pignat
Caroline Pignat studied at the University of Ottawa. Before she started writing novels, her stories appeared in different magazines, including Highlights for Children.
Her First Books
Her first book for young adults was called Egghead, published in 2008. This story is about a character named Will Reid, who is bullied by a ninth-grade student.
In 2009, Caroline Pignat won a very important award called the Governor General's Award. She won it for her second young adult novel, Greener Grass: The Famine Years. This book is set in Ireland, which is where Caroline Pignat was born.
Continuing Stories and New Adventures
After Greener Grass, she wrote two more books that continue the story: Wild Geese and Timber Wolf. These books follow characters on their adventures in North America.
Her fifth novel, Unspeakable, tells the story of someone who survived the sinking of a ship called the Empress of Ireland.
Caroline Pignat won her second Governor General's Award in 2015 for her sixth novel, The Gospel Truth. This book tells the story of different characters living on a tobacco farm in the Southern United States.
Her seventh novel, Shooter, is about five high school students. They are caught by surprise during a school lockdown.
Caroline Pignat's latest book is Poetree. It is a picture book filled with acrostic poems about trees. She worked with an award-winning artist named François Thisdale on this book.
