Carpenter's Station is a small, unincorporated community in Kentucky. This means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. It's located near the border of Casey and Lincoln counties. This historic spot was first settled way back in 1779!

The Story of Carpenter's Station

Carpenter's Station was originally known as "Carpenter's Fort." It was founded in the summer of 1779. You can find it about 2 miles (3.2 kilometers) west of a town called Hustonville today. This area is right on the county line between Casey and Lincoln counties in Kentucky.

Who Were the Carpenter Brothers?

Three brothers named George, John, and Adam Carpenter started this settlement. They traveled all the way from Rockingham County, Virginia to settle in Kentucky. The brothers were from a German family. Their father, George Zimmerman, was born in Switzerland around 1720.

A Family's Journey to America

George Zimmerman, the father of the Carpenter brothers, moved to the American colonies around 1740. He first settled in Pennsylvania. Later, he moved to Rockingham County, Virginia, before the American Revolutionary War began. The family name "Zimmerman" was later changed to "Carpenter" in English.
