Carpenter is a small, quiet place in New Castle County, Delaware, in the United States. It's called an "unincorporated community," which means it's a neighborhood or area that doesn't have its own local government like a city or town does. Instead, it's part of the larger county.
Carpenter is located where Delaware Route 92 crosses an old railroad line. This railroad used to be part of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad but is now used by CSX Transportation. Carpenter is about 6.5 miles (10.5 kilometers) northeast of a bigger city called Wilmington.
A Look Back: Carpenter's History
Carpenter has always been a small community. We can see how its population has slowly grown over the years:
- In 1900, only 18 people lived in Carpenter.
- By 1925, the population had grown to 52 people.
- In 1960, the community had 100 residents.
This shows that Carpenter has remained a small, close-knit place throughout its history.
