Harbor Seal Preserve

A very special part of the park is the Carpinteria Harbor Seal Preserve. This area protects Harbor seals (Phoca vitulina). It's a safe place where these seals can rest and have their babies. This preserve is one of only four places left along the Southern California coast where harbor seals have their rookeries (breeding grounds). It's important to keep this area safe for them.
