Early Life and Discovering Acting
Carrie-Anne Moss was born in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. Her parents are Barbara and Melvyn Moss. She has an older brother named Brooke. Her mother reportedly named her after a popular song from 1967 called "Carrie Anne" by the Hollies.
As a child, Carrie-Anne lived with her mother in Vancouver. When she was 11, she joined a children's musical theatre group in Vancouver. Later, in her final year of high school, she even toured Europe with her school choir.
Her Acting Journey
Starting Out in the 1990s
Carrie-Anne Moss began her acting career while living in Spain. Her first TV role was as Tara in the drama series Dark Justice. She moved to Los Angeles with the show in 1992.
After leaving Dark Justice, she studied acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. She then appeared in the TV show Models Inc., which was a spin-off of Melrose Place. Throughout the 1990s, she acted in several other TV series, including Baywatch and Due South. Many of her early film roles were in smaller movies.
Becoming Famous with The Matrix
Carrie-Anne Moss's big break came when she played Trinity in the science-fiction movie The Matrix in 1999. This role required her to do many acrobatic moves. She even had to pass a three-hour physical test to get the part!
The Matrix was a huge success, earning over $460 million worldwide. Many people consider it one of the best science-fiction films ever made. Busy Years in the 2000s
