Carrie Ann Baade (born February 18, 1974) is an American painter. She creates unique artworks that mix old paintings with new ideas. Imagine taking pieces of famous Renaissance and Baroque art and putting them together in a new, dream-like way! Her paintings often tell stories about her own life. They feature strange plants, animals, and figures. Carrie Ann Baade lives in Tallahassee, Florida, and teaches art at Florida State University.

Growing Up and Learning Art

Carrie Ann Baade was born in New Orleans, but she grew up mostly in a small town in Colorado. She loved art and went to The School of the Art Institute of Chicago to study painting. She finished her first art degree in 1997.

During her studies, she spent a year in Italy at the Florence Academy of Art. There, she learned the special techniques used by famous artists from long ago. Later, in 2003, she earned her master's degree from the University of Delaware.

Her Unique Art Style

Carrie Ann Baade is known for her incredible imagination. Her art is part of a modern style called Pop Surrealism. This style mixes dream-like images with ideas from pop culture.

She often takes small parts from old, famous paintings. Then, she puts them together in new ways. This creates a surreal, or dream-like, world. Her paintings often share her own thoughts and feelings. They combine old art with a fresh, modern view.

Awards and Exhibitions

Carrie Ann Baade has received many important awards for her art. These include fellowships from the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs and the Delaware Division of the Arts. She was also nominated for the United States Artists Fellowship.
