History of Carroll
Carroll was first planned out in 1829. It was built at a special spot where two canals met. Canals were like man-made rivers that helped boats move goods and people. This made Carroll an important place for travel and trade.
The village was named after Charles Carroll of Carrollton. He was a very important American politician. He was one of the people who signed the United States Declaration of Independence. This document announced that the United States was a free country. Charles Carroll was the last person who signed it to pass away.
