Cartagena is a small area, or district, located in the Santa Cruz canton. It's part of the Guanacaste province in the beautiful country of Costa Rica.

History of Cartagena
Cartagena became its own official district on October 2, 1964. Before that, it was part of another district called Tempate. This change was made by a special government decision.
Geography and Location
Cartagena covers an area of about 82.56 square kilometers. It is located at an elevation of about 63 meters above sea level. This means it's not very high up, closer to sea level.
