Cartel de Santa is a popular Mexican hip hop group. They are from Santa Catarina, Nuevo León. The group started in 1996. They used different names and members at first. Later, they chose their final name and lineup.
The main singer is Eduardo Dávalos De Luna, known as Babo. Román Rodríguez, also called "Mono," is another key member. Dharius was part of the group until 2013. Cartel de Santa is one of the most famous Mexican rap groups worldwide. They are also one of the best-selling Spanish-speaking groups ever. They have earned many awards for their high sales.
The Story of Cartel de Santa
The group became very famous in 2003. They released their first album that year. It was called "Cartel de Santa: Vol. I". Jason Roberts produced this album. He also worked with other big artists. These include Cypress Hill and Ice Cube.
In the same year, Cartel de Santa made a music video. It was for their song "Perros". MTV showed this video across Latin America. Their most important album came out in 2004. It was named "Cartel de Santa Vol. II". This album had popular songs like "Blah Blah Blah" and "La Llamada". It also featured "El Dolor del Micro" with Julieta Venegas.
In 2006, the group recorded their third album. It was called "Cartel de Santa, Vol. Prohibido". In February 2008, the band released their fourth album.
