History of Casey Arriba
Puerto Rico became a part of the United States after the Spanish–American War in 1898. This happened because of a peace agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898. Puerto Rico then became an "unincorporated territory" of the U.S. This means it is a U.S. territory but not a state.
In 1899, the U.S. government took a count of all the people in Puerto Rico. This count is called a census. The census found that Casey Arriba, along with two nearby areas called Ovejas and Río Cañas, had a total of 1,257 people living there.
