Cathryn Rose "Casey" Wilson (born October 24, 1980) is an American actress, comedian, and writer. She is also known for hosting podcasts.

Casey first became known for her comedy performances with the Upright Citizens Brigade group in New York City. She then joined the cast of the TV show Saturday Night Live from 2008 to 2009. After SNL, she starred as Penny Hartz in the comedy series Happy Endings. For this role, she was nominated twice for the Critics' Choice Television Award. She has also appeared in other comedies like Black Monday and The Shrink Next Door.

Casey has also had roles in movies such as Gone Girl and Julie & Julia. She has appeared in TV series like Mrs. Fletcher and Atypical.

Early Life and Education

Casey Wilson was born and grew up in Alexandria, Virginia. She finished high school in 1998. She then studied theater at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. She also attended the Stella Adler Studio of Acting. In 2002, she graduated and received an award for "Excellence in Acting."

Casey has Irish and Italian family roots. She was raised Baptist. Her parents worked in politics. Her mother was a Democrat, and her father was a Republican. Casey says their different political views helped shape her sense of humor. She also has a younger brother named Fletcher.

Her mother, Kathy Higdon Wilson, was a strong supporter of women's rights. She led the National Women's Political Caucus (NWPC) in the 1980s. Later, she worked in early childhood education. Kathy died in 2005. Casey and her family continue to run the Kathy Wilson Foundation. This charity helps children with disabilities.

Casey's love for performing started when she was young. She remembers seeing the musical Cats in New York City. This inspired her to create her own plays. When she was nine, her father built her a stage in their backyard. She put on plays there with other kids. As a teenager, she took singing and acting lessons. She was very involved in her high school's theater program. She even played the lead role of Maria in The Sound of Music.

At first, Casey wanted to be a serious dramatic actress. But an acting teacher suggested she try comedy. After graduating from NYU in 2002, Casey and her friend June Diane Raphael started studying improv comedy. They joined the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in New York City. They performed their own two-woman sketch show there for several years. This show helped them become writers. They were hired to write the movie Bride Wars.

Casey has said that comedians like Catherine O'Hara and Lucille Ball have influenced her work.

Comedy and Acting Career

Casey Wilson began her comedy career by writing and performing at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre (UCB). She performed in improv teams there. One of her most famous shows at UCB was Rode Hard and Put Away Wet. She wrote and performed this show with her comedy partner, June Diane Raphael. The show ran from 2003 to 2006. In 2005, they won an award for "Best Comedy Duo."

Casey and June Diane Raphael continue to write scripts together. They are working on a new film that they will star in. It will be produced by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay's company.

Casey also worked with her husband, David Caspe, on the NBC sitcom Marry Me. They met while working on Happy Endings. Marry Me aired from 2014 to 2015. Casey and Ken Marino played an engaged couple in the show. The story was loosely based on Casey and David's own relationship.

She also starred in two seasons of the Hulu series The Hotwives. This show makes fun of reality TV shows like The Real Housewives. Each season featured the same actors playing different characters.

Casey has made guest appearances on many other TV shows. These include Black-ish, How I Met Your Mother, and Grey's Anatomy. She has also done voice acting for animated shows like American Dad! and Family Guy. In 2019, she started a recurring role in the HBO mini-series Mrs. Fletcher.
