Early Life and Family
Casey Wilson was born and grew up in Alexandria, Virginia. She went to T. C. Williams High School and later studied acting at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. She graduated in 2002 with an award for "Excellence in Acting."
Wilson's parents both worked in politics. Her mother, Kathy Higdon, was a Democrat who worked for women's rights. Her father, Paul O. Wilson, was a Republican who helped run political campaigns. Wilson has said that growing up with parents who had different political views helped shape her sense of humor.
Her mother, Kathy, passed away in 2005. To honor her, Wilson and her family started the Kathy Wilson Foundation. The charity helps children with disabilities, continuing the work her mother cared about.
Starting Her Career
Wilson loved performing from a young age. When she was nine, her dad built a stage for her in their backyard. She would put on plays with other kids from her neighborhood. In high school, she starred in many school plays, including playing the main character, Maria, in The Sound of Music.
After college, Wilson and her best friend, June Diane Raphael, started studying improvisational comedy, which is a type of comedy where the actors make things up on the spot. They studied at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in New York City.
Comedy Partnership
Wilson and Raphael created a two-woman sketch show called Rode Hard and Put Away Wet. The show was very successful and ran for several years. Their success led to opportunities to write for movies and television. They wrote their first movie together, Bride Wars, and even had small roles in it.

They also wrote and starred in the comedy movie ... Backwards, which was shown at the Sundance Film Festival in 2013. They continue to work together on many projects.
Television and Film Success
Wilson has appeared in many movies and TV shows. She had roles in films like Julie & Julia, Gone Girl, and The Meddler.
Happy Endings and Other Shows
From 2011 to 2013, Wilson played Penny Hartz in the ABC comedy series Happy Endings. The show was about a group of six friends and was a breakout role for Wilson. She was nominated twice for a Critics' Choice Television Award for her performance.
She later starred in the show Marry Me, which was created by her husband, David Caspe. The show was based on their own relationship. Wilson has also appeared in many other TV shows, including Black-ish, How I Met Your Mother, and Grey's Anatomy. She has also done voice acting for animated shows like American Dad! and Family Guy.
Saturday Night Live
In 2008, Wilson joined the cast of the famous TV show Saturday Night Live (SNL). She was the first new cast member in over two years. On the show, she was known for her impressions of celebrities like Rachael Ray and Jennifer Aniston.
She also created funny original characters, including:
- Toni Ward, a co-host of a fictional show called "The Cougar Den," where she gave strange advice on dating.
- Nora Maharelle, one of four singing sisters whose performances were always messed up by their odd sister, Dooneese (played by Kristen Wiig).
Wilson was on SNL for two seasons before leaving in 2009. She said that while it was a great experience, it "wasn't the best fit for me."
Other Work
Besides acting and writing, Wilson is also a podcaster and author.
Podcasting
