Welcome to Castiadas!
Castiadas is a charming comune in the Italian region of Sardinia. A comune is like a local government area, similar to a town or a small city. It's where people live and work, and it has its own local leaders.
Where is Castiadas?
Castiadas is located on the eastern side of the island of Sardinia. It's about 35 kilometers (which is about 22 miles) east of Cagliari, one of the main cities in Sardinia. The town is also close to several other municipalities. These include Maracalagonis, Muravera, San Vito, Sinnai, and Villasimius.
A Look at Castiadas' History
The history of Castiadas goes back a long way. The area was first settled in the 14th century, which means the 1300s. However, for many hundreds of years after that, the area was abandoned. It wasn't until the 19th century (the 1800s) that people started to move back and repopulate Castiadas.
In 1965, a group of people from Bizerte, a city in Tunisia, moved to Castiadas. Many of these people were of Sicilian descent, meaning their families originally came from Sicily, another island in Italy. They helped to grow the community in Castiadas.
Who Lives in Castiadas?
As of December 31, 2010, Castiadas had a population of 1,507 people. The people who live in Castiadas are called Castiadesi. The town is located at an elevation of 60 meters (about 197 feet) above sea level.
Who Leads Castiadas?
Like all municipalities, Castiadas has a mayor who leads the local government. The mayor of Castiadas is Eugenio Murgioni. The mayor and the local council work together to make decisions for the town and its residents.
