Caswell is a small town located in Forest County, Wisconsin, in the United States. In 2010, about 91 people lived there. Some smaller communities like Cavour and Laona Junction are part of the town. There was also once a "ghost town" called Bagdad in the area.
History of Caswell
The Town of Caswell was officially created in 1901. It was formed from parts of another town called Cavour. The rest of the old Town of Cavour became the Town of Wabeno. Caswell was likely named after Lucien B. Caswell. He was a politician who served in Wisconsin's government and later in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Geography and Nature
Caswell covers an area of about 47.9 square miles (124.1 square kilometers). Most of this area is land. A small part, about 0.2 square miles (0.4 square kilometers), is water. The Peshtigo River flows through the town, which is a nice natural feature. You can travel through Caswell using major roads like U.S. Route 8 and Wisconsin Highway 139. There are also local roads like Forest County Roads G and O.
