Catemu is a city and commune located in the San Felipe de Aconcagua Province in central Chile. It's part of the Valparaíso Region. A commune is like a local government area, similar to a town or district.

Catemu is a vibrant city and commune in Chile, known for its beautiful landscapes and friendly community. It's an important part of the Valparaíso Region, helping to connect different areas of the country.
Where is Catemu?
Catemu covers an area of about 361.6 square kilometers. To give you an idea, that's roughly the size of a medium-sized city or a large national park. It's located in a central part of Chile, making it easy to reach from other places.
Who Lives in Catemu?
In 2002, a census counted 12,112 people living in Catemu. More than half of these people (6,706) lived in the city areas, while 5,406 lived in the countryside. The population grew by 7.2% between 1992 and 2002. There were slightly more men (6,172) than women (5,940) living in the commune at that time.
How Catemu is Governed
As a commune, Catemu has its own local government. This government is run by a communal council (called consejo comunal). The council is led by an alcalde, who is like a mayor and is chosen directly by the people.
