Cathedral Hill is a neighborhood and a small hill in San Francisco, California. It is part of the larger Western Addition district. This area gets its name from the impressive St. Mary's Cathedral, which stands tall in the middle of the neighborhood.

Where is Cathedral Hill Located?
This neighborhood is easy to find in San Francisco. Its northern edge is Post Street. To the east, you'll find Van Ness Avenue. Eddy Street forms the southern border, and Laguna Street is on the western side.
What Makes Cathedral Hill Special?
Cathedral Hill is famous for its tall buildings and many churches. The most important building is the St. Mary's Cathedral. It is located at the corner of Geary Street and Gough Street.

The neighborhood has many large apartment buildings and condominium towers. Several churches are also built on top of the hill. These include:

Other Important Places
A big change happened in the neighborhood recently. The old Cathedral Hill Hotel was taken down between 2013 and 2021. In its place, a new, earthquake-proof hospital was built. This is the California Pacific Medical Center hospital. Also, the Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep school is located right in this neighborhood.
