Catherine La Ora Boswell (born November 10, 1962) is an American former basketball player. She is famous for competing in the 1984 Summer Olympics. Cathy played college basketball for Illinois State University. After college, she played professionally in many countries around the world.

Cathy Boswell was a talented basketball player. She played for the USA national team several times. Her journey included important international competitions.
Early International Games
In 1980, Cathy was chosen for the USA team. They played in the William Jones Cup in Taipei, Taiwan. The team finished with a 7–2 record. This put them in a three-way tie for first place. After tie-breaking rules, the USA team earned the bronze medal.
Two years later, in 1982, Cathy joined the USA team again. They played in the same competition. The team won their first seven games. However, they lost a close game to Canada, 70–67. This meant the USA team won the silver medal.
Winning Gold at the World University Games
In 1983, Cathy represented the USA at the World University Games. These games were held in Edmonton, Canada. The team was coached by Jill Hutchison.
The USA team faced a tough challenge. They lost to Romania in an early round. To win a medal, they had to win every game after that. The team showed great spirit and bounced back. They won a very close game against Yugoslavia, 86–85. Then, they had a rematch against Romania. The USA team was behind at halftime. But they fought hard in the second half. They won the game 83–61. This victory earned them the gold medal! Cathy averaged 4.7 points per game during this tournament.
Olympic Preparation and Gold Medal
In 1984, the USA national team went back to Taipei, Taiwan. They played in the William Jones Cup again. This time, it was practice for the upcoming Olympics. The team was incredibly strong. They easily beat all eight teams they played. They won by almost 50 points per game on average. Cathy averaged 7.0 points per game in these games.
After this successful practice, Cathy continued with the national team. She went on to represent the USA at the 1984 Summer Olympics. The team played six games and won every single one. This amazing performance earned them the gold medal! Cathy averaged 4.0 points per game during the Olympics.
