Caumont-sur-Orne was once a small commune (a type of town or village) located in the Calvados area of Normandy, a region in northwestern France. Its name means "Caumont on Orne," referring to the nearby Orne River.
On January 1, 2016, Caumont-sur-Orne joined with other nearby communes to form a new, larger commune called Thury-Harcourt-le-Hom. This means Caumont-sur-Orne no longer exists as a separate commune.
The area where Caumont-sur-Orne was located is known as Suisse Normande. This name comes from its beautiful, hilly landscapes, which remind people of the mountains in Switzerland, even though they are much smaller.
