Caundle Brook is a small river in Dorset, England. It is a tributary of the River Lydden. This means it's a smaller stream that flows into a larger river. Caundle Brook is about 21.6 kilometers (13.4 miles) long. It winds its way through a beautiful area called Blackmore Vale.

Discovering Caundle Brook's Journey

Caundle Brook starts its adventure in the countryside of Dorset. It's a great example of how small streams contribute to bigger river systems.

Where Does Caundle Brook Begin?

The journey of Caundle Brook begins at the bottom of a place called Dogbury Hill. This spot is close to a village named Cosmore. Here, tiny trickles of water gather to form the very start of the brook.

Following Caundle Brook's Flow

From its source, Caundle Brook first flows towards the north. It passes by quiet villages like Middlemarsh and Tiley. As it continues, it collects water from other smaller streams. Two of these are called The Cam and another stream that drains an area known as Caundle Marsh.

After collecting these extra waters, Caundle Brook changes direction. It turns and flows towards the east. Along this part of its journey, it goes under Cornford Bridge. It also passes under the A3030 road near Bishop's Caundle. The brook then flows past Rowden Mill, which is south of Stourton Caundle.

Where Caundle Brook Ends

Caundle Brook's journey continues until it reaches another road, the A357, at a place called Warr Bridge. Soon after this, Caundle Brook joins the River Lydden. This meeting point is near the village of Lydlinch. Here, the waters of Caundle Brook become part of the larger River Lydden.
