  • Blitz Tournament: Players had 25 minutes to win in this fast-paced game. Shakhriyar Mamedyarov and Francisco Vallejo Pons also won in this category.

Chess Festival 2007 Highlights

The 2007 festival was even bigger, with over 240 players in the main tournament:

  • Active International Tournament: This tournament had many top chess players. The winners included Alexei Shirov, Daniel Fridman, Ivan Sokolov, and Boris Gélfand. Famous players like Judit Polgár and Viswanathan Anand were also among the top finishers.
  • Fischer System Chess Tournament: Alexei Shirov won this tournament with 8 points.
  • Blitzkrieg tournament: This was another very fast game. Players had only 3 minutes plus 2 seconds per move. Vasily Ivanchuk won this exciting tournament.
