Cecily Neville (born around 1425 – died July 26, 1450) was an important lady in England during the 1400s. She held the titles of Duchess of Warwick and Countess of Worcester. Cecily was the daughter of Richard Neville, 5th Earl of Salisbury and Alice Montacute, 5th Countess of Salisbury. Her family was very powerful and well-known.

Early Life and Family Connections

Cecily Neville was born into a very important family. Her father, Richard Neville, was the Earl of Salisbury. Her mother, Alice Montacute, was also a Countess. This meant Cecily grew up in a world of nobility and influence.

She had several famous siblings. Her brother, Richard Neville, 16th Earl of Warwick, was known as the "Kingmaker." He was a very powerful figure in English history. Another brother, George Neville, became the Archbishop of York and even the Chancellor of England.

Cecily was probably named after her aunt, Cecily Neville, Duchess of York. This aunt was the mother of two future kings of England: Edward IV and Richard III. This means Cecily Neville was a first cousin to these kings.

Marriages and Titles

Cecily Neville married twice in her life. Both marriages connected her to powerful noble families.

First Marriage to Henry de Beauchamp

Her first husband was Henry de Beauchamp, 1st Duke of Warwick. They married in 1434. Henry was a very important nobleman. He was not only a Duke but also held the special title of King of the Isle of Wight, as well as of Jersey and Guernsey.

Cecily and Henry had one daughter together. Her name was Lady Anne Beauchamp. When her father, Henry, passed away in 1446, Lady Anne inherited his title. She became the 15th Countess of Warwick in her own right.

Sadly, Lady Anne passed away too. After her death, the title of Countess of Warwick went to her aunt, who was also named Anne. This aunt was married to Cecily's brother, Richard Neville. Because of this marriage, Richard Neville became the 16th Earl of Warwick.

Second Marriage to John Tiptoft

After her first husband died, Cecily married again in 1449. Her second husband was John Tiptoft, 1st Earl of Worcester. This marriage was short, as Cecily passed away the next year in 1450. She and John Tiptoft did not have any children together.

Burial Place

Cecily Neville was buried alongside her first husband, Henry de Beauchamp, the Duke of Warwick. Their resting place is in Tewkesbury Abbey, a historic church in England.
