Starting Out in Baseball
Cedric Mullins went to Brookwood High School in Georgia. He played college baseball at Louisburg College for two years. He earned top grades there. Then, he played for Campbell University in 2015. He was a star player, leading his team in many ways. He had a great batting average of .340. He also hit 23 doubles and 7 triples.
In 2015, the Baltimore Orioles picked Mullins in the MLB draft. He began his professional career with the Aberdeen IronBirds. He played 68 games and hit two home runs. In 2016, he played for the Delmarva Shorebirds. He hit 14 home runs and stole 30 bases. In 2017, he moved up to the Bowie Baysox. He hit 13 home runs in 76 games. Before joining the Orioles, he was known for hitting very long home runs.

First MLB Games (2018)
Cedric Mullins joined the Baltimore Orioles in the major leagues on August 10, 2018. He had an amazing first game. He got three hits, two runs batted in (RBI), and scored three runs. He was the first Orioles player ever to get three hits in his first MLB game. He was also one of only five players in MLB history to score three or more runs and get two or more extra-base hits in their first game. He finished the 2018 season with a .235 batting average. He also hit four home runs in 45 games.
Challenges and Comeback (2019-2020)
Mullins started the 2019 season as the Orioles' main center fielder. But he had a tough time and was sent to a lower league. He kept working hard to improve his game.
In 2020, Mullins had a strong training camp. This helped him earn a spot back on the Orioles' team. In the shorter 2020 season, he hit .271. He also hit 3 home runs and stole 7 bases. Mullins later shared that he played the 2020 season with a health condition. He had surgery in November 2020 to help him feel better.
Becoming an All-Star (2021)
In 2021, Mullins decided to only bat left-handed. This was a big change for him. On April 26, 2021, he hit two home runs in one game for the first time. From June 4 to June 6, he got 9 hits in a row, including 3 home runs.
On July 4, Mullins was picked to be an All-Star for the first time. He was even chosen to start the game as the center fielder. On September 24, Mullins made Orioles history. He became the first player for the team to hit 30 home runs and steal 30 bases in one season. This is a rare achievement called the 30–30 club. For the 2021 season, he hit .291 with 30 home runs and 30 stolen bases. He also won his first Silver Slugger Award.
Continued Success (2022-2025)
On April 12, 2022, Mullins hit his first career grand slam. This is a home run with the bases loaded, scoring four runs. He finished the 2022 season with 16 home runs and 34 stolen bases. He also had a perfect fielding percentage in center field.
In 2023, Mullins achieved another rare feat. On May 12, he hit for the cycle. This means he hit a single, double, triple, and home run all in the same game. He was the seventh Orioles player to do this. He also hit a grand slam on September 11. On September 18, he hit a three-run home run in the ninth inning to win a game.
Mullins hit his first walk-off home run on April 17, 2024. A walk-off home run wins the game in the final inning. He also hit a walk-off double on July 14, 2024. He finished the 2024 regular season with 18 home runs and 32 stolen bases. He had a very high fielding percentage of .996% in center field. In the playoffs, he hit a solo home run in Game 2 of the American League Wild Card Series.
On July 26, 2025, Mullins hit his 100th career home run. This made him only the third Orioles player in history to have both 100 home runs and 100 stolen bases.
Playing for Team USA
In 2022, Cedric Mullins announced he would play for the United States national baseball team. He joined the team for the 2023 World Baseball Classic. He played in 5 games and hit a home run and a triple for Team USA.
