Cedric is a tall player, standing 6 feet 9 inches (206 cm) tall. He plays as a power forward or a center. These positions are usually for taller players who can score close to the basket and grab rebounds. In 2006, the New Orleans Hornets picked him in the first round of the 2006 NBA draft. Playing College Basketball
Before becoming a professional, Cedric played college basketball for North Carolina State University. He was part of the NC State Wolfpack team.
During his second year, called his sophomore year, he played very well. He scored about 11.8 points in each game. He also grabbed 6.3 rebounds and blocked 2.5 shots per game. These numbers show he was a strong player for his college team.
Becoming a Pro Basketball Player
Cedric Simmons started his professional career in 2006. He was chosen by the New Orleans Hornets in the 2006 NBA draft. He signed his first contract with them in July 2006.
Over the next few years, Cedric played for several NBA teams. He was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2007. Sometimes, he also played in the NBA D-League, which is like a development league for the NBA. He played for teams like the Rio Grande Valley Vipers and the Iowa Energy.

Cedric Simmons has also represented Bulgaria in international basketball. He was a member of the senior men's Bulgarian national basketball team. He played in the FIBA EuroBasket 2013 qualification tournament. During this tournament, he averaged 10.4 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game for his team.
