Cedric Simmons, born on January 3, 1986, is a professional basketball player. He is from the United States but also has Bulgarian citizenship. He has even played for the senior men's Bulgarian national basketball team. Standing at 6 feet 9 inches tall, Simmons plays as a power forward or center. The New Orleans Hornets picked him in the first round of the 2006 NBA draft. He was the 15th player chosen overall.

College Basketball Career

Simmons played college basketball for North Carolina State University. He was part of the NC State Wolfpack team. In his second year, he played really well. He scored about 11.8 points per game. He also grabbed 6.3 rebounds and blocked 2.5 shots per game.

Professional Basketball Journey

Cedric Simmons started his professional career in the NBA. He was picked by the New Orleans Hornets in the 2006 NBA draft.

In August 2011, Simmons signed with Estudiantes in Spain. He played there for the 2011–12 season. The next year, in August 2012, he joined Enel Brindisi in Italy.

Joining Olympiacos

In July 2013, Simmons signed a three-year deal with Olympiacos, a famous Greek club. He played there for a while. In November 2014, he left Olympiacos and returned to his former team, Enel Brindisi. Unfortunately, he got a knee injury that ended his season early.

Later Career Moves

Simmons continued to play for different teams. In August 2015, he signed with a Turkish team, but he left before playing a game. In January 2016, he had a short contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel. He also tried out for a team in Montenegro, but did not sign.

Estonia and Japan

In November 2016, Simmons joined Kalev/Cramo in Estonia. He played well there and re-signed for another season in August 2017. Later, he moved to Japan. He played for San-en NeoPhoenix from 2018 to 2020. After that, he joined SeaHorses Mikawa in 2020, where he played until 2023.

Playing for His Country

Cedric Simmons has also represented the Bulgarian national basketball team. He played in the FIBA EuroBasket 2013 qualification tournament. During this tournament, he averaged 10.4 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. He also blocked 1.3 shots per game.
