Cedrick Rommel Frazier (born April 28, 1979) is an American lawyer and politician. He is a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives. He belongs to the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL). He represents District 43A, which includes the cities of New Hope and Crystal in Hennepin County.

Cedrick Frazier's Early Life and Education
Cedrick Frazier grew up in Chicago, Illinois. After high school, he moved to Minnesota. He played football and ran track at the University of Minnesota-Morris. He earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in psychology there.
Frazier then attended Minnesota State University, Mankato. He studied urban studies, focusing on how local governments are managed. He earned a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree. During this time, he also worked with the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development.
After his master's degree, Frazier went to William Mitchell College of Law. While studying law, he worked for the Hennepin County Public Defender's Office. He also worked for the League of Minnesota Cities. After getting his law degree (Juris Doctor or J.D.), he became a public defender in Hennepin County. A public defender is a lawyer who helps people who cannot afford legal help.
In 2008, Frazier became the Director of Equity and Diversity for the Minneapolis Public School District. He later became a legal advisor for the district. After working in public education for eight years, he joined the legal team at Education Minnesota. This is the largest labor union for educators in the state.
Serving on the New Hope City Council
In August 2018, Cedrick Frazier was chosen to join the New Hope City Council. This council helps make decisions for the city of New Hope. Before this, he was part of the city's Planning Commission.
Frazier officially started his role on September 10, 2018. He made history by becoming the first African American to serve on the New Hope City Council.
While on the council, Frazier worked to improve communication. He encouraged talks between the city's Human Rights Commission and the police department. These discussions focused on how police practices could be fair for everyone. He also suggested new rules to protect people who rent affordable homes.
Becoming a Minnesota State Representative
Cedrick Frazier was first elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in 2020. He took over from Lyndon Carlson, who had been a State Representative for a long time. As a State Representative, he helps create laws for the state of Minnesota.
Key Work in the Legislature
On January 1, 2021, the Speaker of the Minnesota House, Melissa Hortman, chose Frazier to be the vice chair of the House Public Safety Committee. This committee works on laws related to public safety and crime.
Frazier has been a strong supporter of making changes to Minnesota's public safety and justice system. He helped lead efforts to improve how law enforcement works. He was also a key negotiator for the state's budget. He helped pass a $52 billion state budget, which prevented the government from shutting down. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz recognized Frazier for keeping police reform a main topic during the legislative session.
In July 2021, Frazier was appointed to a special group. This group decided how to give out $250 million in federal money. This money was meant for essential workers who worked hard during difficult times. Frazier also wrote a bill called the Essential Workers Emergency Leave Act. This bill aimed to give paid sick leave to workers who did not get it from other federal programs.
In December 2022, Frazier was elected to be a co-chair of the Minnesota House People of Color and Indigenous (POCI) Caucus. He shared this role with Representative Esther Agbaje. This group works on issues important to people of color and Indigenous communities in Minnesota.
