Cejas is a small area, or barrio, located in the municipality of Comerío in Puerto Rico. In 2010, about 829 people lived there.

What are Barrios and Sectors?

In Puerto Rico, a barrio is like a neighborhood or a district within a larger town or city. Think of it as a smaller part of a municipality.

These barrios are then divided into even smaller areas called sectores (which means sectors in English). A sector is a very local area, like a specific street or a small group of houses. There are different types of sectors, such as urbanización (a planned housing development) or barriada (a neighborhood).

History of Cejas

Puerto Rico became a territory of the United States after the Spanish–American War in 1898. This happened because of a peace agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898.

Soon after, in 1899, the United States government counted all the people living in Puerto Rico. This count, called a census, showed that the combined population of Cejas and a nearby barrio called Cedrito was 1,158 people.
