How Centerville Got Its Start
The community was first named Larkin. This name came from a man named John Larkin. He owned a store and a saloon in the area. A saloon was a place where people could buy drinks and socialize.
The Old Post Office
For a few years, Centerville had its own post office. It operated from 1899 until 1912. This was an important service for the people living there. It helped them send and receive mail.
The Carr Fire: A Community's Challenge
In 2018, Centerville faced a big challenge. The community had to be evacuated because of the Carr Fire. This was a large wildfire that spread quickly. Sadly, some homes in Centerville were destroyed by the fire. The community worked together to recover from this event.
